Wedding cancelled by Covid!

We want to start by saying a massive thank you to everyone who supported us during this extremely stressful and trying period of time. Your love, encouragement and prayers carried us through when we have been at our absolute lowest. You helped us establish a solid foundation on which to build as we rearranged not only our cancelled wedding but also our lives. God has truly blessed us with a loving Christian family that we can rely upon.

Following the announcement by the South African government denying visas to incoming visitors from the UK back in March, many things were thrown up into the air. Besides postponing our wedding, our living situation at home was now complicated as the excitement of moving in together and living as husband and wife had been all but shattered. However, in the midst of the chaos, God had a plan for us.

As we were unsure when we would be able to have our wedding celebration in South Africa, but knew that we wanted to start this new chapter of our lives together, we enquired being married in a civil ceremony. Unfortunately, due to the lockdown restrictions that were announced in the UK, it looked unlikely that we would be able to even have a civil ceremony as they were also being rearranged. We lifted the situation to God asking him to make a way and show us the path that he wanted us to take. Almost immediately after we finished praying, the registry office rang back and said that they were able to make time the next day in the morning if we could make it. We jumped at the opportunity!

We would therefore like to announce that we were married on Tuesday 17 March 2020. Praise the Lord. We still plan to hold the ceremony and wedding celebration in South Africa when possible (next year April we hope!) but God made it clear to us that this was the right way forward and we are elated by His faithfulness. In the midst of the chaos and heartache, God was with us and unfolded a good plan to prosper us and not to harm us, a plan that gave us hope and a future.

This time in lockdown together as husband and wife, and overcoming various challenges, has really helped us to build solid foundations and deepen our relationship with one another and our Heavenly Father. A time of real blessing.
